That's where Trijicon placed the bible verse at.
Link Posted: 4/21/2011 5:55:54 PM EDT
And the US Military had to go and remove all of those bible verses.

Congrats, you have stolen military property.

Can anybody confirm this?

I am telling you after supervising a BN's worth of ACOGs getting the verse taken off, that is a .mil optic that was in the system in the last 18 months..........And they don't get sold.

Trijicon will if you call them.  Did it for 4 scopes on ebay before I gave up on finding an ebay acog that wasn't stolen.

Just bought a TA31F and Trijicon confirmed it was manufactured in March 2011 based on its serial number.

I thought it was interesting that they are still applying the Bible verse (in this case the JN8:12), but are doing it with silk screening versus in the die casting.

ACOG housings are forged, not die cast.

Would the .mil come and confiscate the ACOG if it turns to be a stolen ACOG? You'd think they can trace which unit had it, or even which soldier was assigned the ACOG.

I remember reading stories on this forum where people had bought an ACOG on ebay and later the FBI or someone showed up on their door to take the ACOG back.

Again, these were stories...

We are still laser etching (not silk screening) the bible verse on all civilian/commercial optics.

Good to hear. I am going to be purchasing a TA31F in the near future.
The only reason I was able to talk my wife into a $1000 optic was:
a) the Bible verse.
b) she saw Battle: LA with me and got a new appreciation for the M16A4 setup and really liked seeing the ACOG "in action."
c) see "a"

Love the JN8:12 on my TA01.

Here are some others:

By covering it with what looks like JB Weld?

I have no idea if Civillian versions had the verse removed, but based on some images and comments above, I find that unlikely.

We used a tool and actually removed metal to get rid of the verse on the issued optics, that is how they turned out.  That optic is hot, and stolen from a military unit.

If it CID or LEA was investigating the theft, then yes, they could show up and take the optic back and the purchaser is out of luck.  It has happened with stolen military goods before and it will happen again.

Happened to a friend of mine, he bought a US Optics, and about 6 months later got cetifed letter, and a visit a couple days later.  No USO, but at least they didnt arrest him, all they wanted was it back.

did you buy it on this site or ebay...?
didnt you see a picture of it?? before buying

I would suggest contacting trijicon to verify if the serial # was US property at any point.  If it was, contact the member you bought it from, explain what happened and start the ball rolling.... Sooner than later.

Nope, machined out.

Looks pretty clean on my personal unit, and all the new ones we got at work.
