I've been looking at several options for iron
sights for my new build. I'm going with a flat
top upper, and a removable carry handle. I'm
thinking along the lines of a NM rear sight,
but I'm not sure what to do for the front sight.
I want a railed gas block so that I can mount
either a flip up front sight or A2 style removable front sight. I'm also torn as to
which insert to use. I've looked at FireSight
front posts, KNS crosshair front posts, front
globe sights, and a simple front peep. Anybody
have any experience with ANY of these? Opinions?
Thanks.

Fair enough. Its main role will be plinking and
some informal target shooting. Ranges will be
anywhere from 25 yards to 300 yards. I'm neither
looking to build a self defense rifle, nor a
benchrest rifle. Just something fun to shoot.
These will be an alternative to the scope I plan
to mount, as well as a backup.

I have a flat top Armalite w/front sight rail w/
An Armalite bolt on front sight , ditto for rear . Who is the moron who decided a rifle needs a carry handle anyway ? Screws up the lines , and makes any kind of optics cumbersome . The only bad thing about a flat top w/ bolt on sights is they're (apparently ) unavoidably off the barrel center which limits your windage adjustments . Thank you for not ruining a rifle by using a carry handle receiver . Thank you even more by not cheating w/ technology and using honest to God skill and iron sights to hit what you're shooting at .
