i saw some 30rd mags at a gunshow that were dated 02/92 and on top of that a few letters like lP99 or something.  these preban? i've been told not to buy any date coded mags.

2/92 mags are fair game. Mags marked after 09/94, LEO or Gov't use only are not for us common folk.

approx how many years before the AWB did they date code mags?  the only reason i can think up doesn't make sense until they were banned.

I don't know when, but the why is probably quality control. That date code can isolate material or finish lots, process changes, etc. when trouble shooting.

Anyone else notice that center's cage code is much deeper, clearer, and more uniform than the date stamp below it?
