Can it be done? If so, could someone post a picture or diagram? I just ordered standard lower kits and I was trying to get out of ordering a 9mm hammer. Cause then I would be stuck with a extra hammer.

Is that an M-16 hammer? It doesn't look anything like a 9mm hammer. I'm new to 9mm ar's so bear with me.

Used to be when it came out of the forge, then somebody before me cut the offending lug off.  I bought it about 10yr ago from a vedor at the funshow.... some parts vendors are selling this hammer as you see it int the pic.... DPMS comes to mind.  


Joe Black will sell you an M16 neutered hammer also, or weld the notch in a std Sporter hammer to look like the one in the pic.
