I almost hate to ask this type of question since it's mostly personal preference but I don't have experience both ways so here it goes anyway.
Mid build, my plan is to use a smooth free float tube, and a mirco type reddot(bushnell trs-25). an A2 fsb would be lower 1/3rd co witness while a railed gas block would afford me the option to have a filp up front sight. This rifle will be 99% for fun/range/around the farm so I don't really need back up sights but will add them eventually either way. Both would be clamp-on fwiw. Input? |

I use a Eotech with a A2 front sight lower 1/3 cowitness, I definitly prefer it to a flip up front sight. when you're useing the red dot you wont even notice the front sight. |

Like you said it is preference, but I will over up mine. I prefer lower 1/3rd with a FSB or any fixed front sight, and absolute with folding sights.

I personally think front folding sights look fugly. But just my pref
