That's a "L" series lower, made by Lewis Machine & Tool, which probably accounts for the difference.

That said, don't look too bad to me, but then I'm more interested in how reliably it shoots than what it looks like.....

ETA - as ya swiped the pic from here: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=265232, why didn't ya pay any attention to the info I provided there?

I work at my local academy and the last bushmaster we got in looked exactly like that. I personally dont like the way it looks, but hell non-matching lower or not somebody has allready put the damn thing on lay-a-way.

just put some CLP on the lower and it will darken it up

I have a 16" Bushmaster and yes the upper and lower don't match. But I don't mind as the insides and the recievers themselves operate better than a Colt and were cheaper to boot.

EDIT: although I will admit, the shiny top does kind of turn me off. (AR's are supposed to be matte black, damnit!)

i would think they would put a little more effort into matching the finish on the rifle

You could say the same thing about Colt. I think a coating of CLP and letting it sit overnight would brings yours pretty close to matching if it bothers you.

I've got to ask, if you don't like the color match, why did you accept the weapon when you bought it? I agree with you that there have been some rough looking Bushies that I've seen lately, but why take one you didn't like?

i asked my boss the same question...its not my rifle its one from were i work

Uppers an lowers arent anodized at the same time and maybe not even in the same place, so some variation in finish color is normal. Some companies get the finish match closer than others on a regular basis, but some difference isnt a big deal.

The matching is not totally necessary, so it doesn't really matter.

If it bothers you that much you could refinish it though.

ugh that looks horrible my buddies bushmaster looks fine.
But whats gets me is the fact that is a fully assembled out of the box rifle and it looks like that.
My RRA was built from pieces and they all match

All three of my Bushy's came like that the uppers where soaked with CLP and the lowers where almost bone dry, one wipe of CLP and they matched perfectly. Its not to big a worry to me as I bought them to shoot.

Yes I’m a RRA person but I have nothing against bushmaster. I was just trying to figure out why the finishes didn’t match when the weapons I get from every other manufacture match perfectly i.e. DPMS, RRA, Armalite, and Colt just to name a few

Spray paint the sucker tri-color camo and then just shoot it.

My new Bushy doesnt match either. Doesnt bother me. I would however like an OD green handguard, grip and stock.
