Yes.

The solvent port insert saves a lot of mess as well.

Probably not as important on a chrome lined beater, but correct cleaning will protect the crown, chamber and barrel and minimize accuracy degradation. You won't screw up the barrel by cleaning. Probably more important to a match shooter than in the sandbox.

I use a Sinclair boreguide with slovent port as well. Pro Shot, Dewey, Bore Tech and few others make bore guides as well.

I use a Sinclair receiver link with the rifle held in a cleaning cradle or the upper receiver group held in an upper receiver vise block.

Dewey coated rod for cleaning the bores, USGI cleaning rod and chamber brush to clean the chamber.

HELL NO!!!

I just pull my dewey thru military style. I'm not big on buying all kinds of extra crap if I can just be smart with what I already have.

unless it's a precision rifle, I say don't bother. If you need dead accuracy, using one might be a good idea.

I use one on my remington 700, none of my other guns. All mine is, is a small piece of brass that keeps the rod from damaging the crown.

I quit using a rod/guide alltogether when I discovered a bore snake.

I use Midway's chamber guide and add-on solvent port to clean the bore. Its now called "EJS". I prefer to clean any rifle from the chamber when possible...saves damaging the crown.

EJS Bore Guide #19 for the AR15 in .223/5.56mm

Actually, i use these too.

I clean everytime I shoot, and once a month regardless. Rod, for after I shoot, snake for the times I'm just cleaning because I'm bored or think they need it.

I think my method is one of the best, but I'm sure everyone would think their way is...
