My new upper is not getting enough gas to cycle the bolt, in fact it will not budge. Any thoughts?

opening up the gas port should be the last thing you try, not the first thing you consider.

Thoroughly check out the gas system from front sight base to carrier key.

The gas tube isn't upside down, is it??

Carrier key tight and staked?

You're saying the bolt doesn't move at all when you fire a shot??

Do not think so

Yes, from DPMS stainless, anybody have issues with SS carriers?

With hotter loads moves some, but with mild loads not much.

My gut reaction is if your bolt is not moving at all, it has nothing to do with your gas port, unless someone forgot to drill one. You have other issues.

I'll be home fairly early tomorrow. If you are free, I'll come over and maybe we can come up with another solution before you start drilling.
