Want to put a collapsable/folding stock on my colt.
Who makes the best quality folder, as far as ease of use, materials and longevity?

Folding? So whats going to happen to your Buffer Spring? As for collapsing Stocks, I would go with the MagPul CTR, M93B and eventually the UBR. They are the Best IMO.

Even a gas piston upper needs a buffer or extension tube to work unless its a Z&M Weapons made upper that is a piston with direct gas assist..they also sell the folding stocks. The bolt carriers in those uppers are half the legnth of whats in a standard AR.

Your Colt Std. Car stock is one of the best out there. Mil speck buffer tube. Best for std. fit and finsh. But If you want a "Bling" Type stock. The Sopmod crane clone form LMT is the best. Followed bye the CTR from Magpull. Price will run you from $90-$200 or so for the LMT. Your buffer tube Rec. Extension. Is mil speck so you can also run a Vltor type stock. Also nice. I have 2 Sopmod and 2 CTR plus 3 Colt stocks and had a Vltor and I personaly love the Sopmod form crane best for cheak weald. But the CTR lock up the tightest No rattle etc.

Okay, my error.
I was inter-changing collapsable and folder.
You guys got me.

Anything I should be looking for? Rock River any good?

Look for a milspec receiver extension. I'm going to replace the one on my Bushmaster. They come with a non-spec tube.

I'll probably go with a Colt stock for now; hopefully I can find a two-position tube. I have the old Bushmaster aluminum stock, and it's kinda rattly. Not looking for the Bling at this time.

Lemme get this straight. You want an RRA Collapsable stock for your Colt?

The LMT SOPMOD has the best cheekweld, no contest.

Just make sure you get a mil-spec diameter receiver extension (aka stock tube).
That will allow you to experiment with only the best collapsable stocks out on the market.

My favorites are a standard Millspec Collapsible stock and get a CA Saddle for it or just get the Vltor Modstock.

You already have a good 4 position Mil-Spec type buffer tube on your Colt if it's a carbine, just get a CMT/ Stag 6 position Mil-Spec type tube if you would like more adjustment.

Other good buffer tubes are the 5 position Vltor which have a better black finish and LMT 6 pos gray color.

Here are some good stock choices:

Vltor Modstock CAR and also club foot model
LMT SOPMOD
Magpul CTR (& UBR when available, maybe next month?)
