xm193 it do the trick? tap ammo? or federal tactical?

Tap (75 gr) would be a good choice if it stabilizes out of your rifle. Otherwise get some BH red box 69 or 68 gr OTM rounds.

OR

Just stock some XM193, Q3131A loads. Try reading the orical. It has a section covering this topic.

Black Hills 75gr OTM, or TAP. If your gun will stabalise it.

If not the 68gr OTM load from Black Hills is good to.

Is the Black Hills 68gr OTM load crimped into a cannelure? If not, are people having cycling problems in their AR-15's?

Rob, I replied to your other post regarding the same question. Bullet has cannelure but is not crimped. I have heard only one post of bullet setback upon feeding, no cycling problems.
Troy had posted once that he uses a Lee Factory Crimp Die to crimp these 68's.
I don't know, but it does'nt seem to be a constant or big issue, but why take the chance for SHTF ammo. Crimp it if thats your ammo of choice. I just ordered one of Denny's "Operator barrels, 1-7' twist, so I can take advantage of more choices of ammo. There doesn't seem to be an ammo with all the features you would want. I bought the 68gr. ammo for my 1-9 gun, but it isn't crimped!!
It pissed me off! Make your choice and practice alot to get good, and to know if your ammo choice works. Good luck.

Dr.

There's a tacked thread at the top of this forum about fragmentation ranges.

M193 M16: 130 yards 16": 105 yards

BH 68gr OTM M16:180 yards 16"140 yards

I know frag range isn't everything, but the BH 68gr OTM will be more accurate. I haven't seen gel testing for the 68gr, but it's similar to the 75gr but with a longer "neck".
