best that will fire through without default and not get lacquer or any other crap all inside the gun

Sorry bud, but everything's going to get crap all over the inside of your rifle.

That being said, I recommend Wolf 55/62 gr or XM193/M855 - depending on what weight you want.

Nothing's wrong with Wolf, it's not even as dirty as some people say it is.

My RRA tactical entry loves Winchester Q3131A if you can find it.  It also likes Black Hills 55, 68, and 69gr rounds.  The last load I tried was the Winchester M855 and those functioned great as well.  I have shot the American Eagle 55gr and the Remington UMC 55gr without any problems but the groupings were crappy.

Anything brass cased.  Stay away from olympic ammo

If you are diligent with your cleaning you probably won't have trouble with any ammo.  My last choice would be wolf for the AR15, but you should try it, you may like it.  I have three AR15s, two are RRA.  All three shoot most anything I have tried.  Check out the Adcom ammo from AIM, you won't be disappointed and the price is very good for what you get.

My choice in order of preference;
IMI
Q3131A, most any WW
Adcom
Radway Green, newer the better
Hertinberger
XM855
XM193
Wolf or any Russian ammo

I use Wolf ammo in my SKS with no problems.  But I don't like the build up in the chamber it leaves.  Doesn't seem as bad with the grey coated Wolf.

Personally I just don't care for steel cases.  Each to his own.

Overall, anything that gives good performance is fine.  I personally stay away from coated steel cases just because of the buildup and cleaning issues.
