So I am new to the evil black rifle and I want some advice on what to buy and where. I am looking for reliable and cheap as possible. I hear and read all sorts of things and now I am even more confused. Someone said never use Wolf. Other say they never have a problem. Someone else says don't buy the bulk stuff from cableas. And on and on. Opinions are like assholes, well you know the rest. So what is the true skinny on ammo for the AR? THANKS!!!

Walmart "white box" 55 gr. fmj - Box of 40 for just under $8
american eagle 55 Gr. mfj - I found some today for $3.99 a box (20)
Federal XM193 (Lake City) - I got some of these today for just under $6.00 for 20

All of these are really reliable.  Never had any problems.

Cheapest you will find is Wolf.  I have run thousands of rounds of it through my rifles without issue.  Most people experience the same thing.  I would try a box and see how you like it.  If you want something that is brass cased, you will have to pay more.

Yeah, I just bought some to see how it shot.  I normally wouldn't pay that much.

Almost any good name brand is good! Win,Rem..PMC.pmp,wolf ,S&B,Black Hills
etc! never had any problem with these brands

my all time favorite is WIN USA Q3131 been useing this for close to 20years from mini 14 to ar15`s

if you got a 5.56mm chamber you can shoot both 5.56mm/223

if ya got 223 chamber stick with 223

if ya got a 1/9 twist you can shoot 35gr. to 75 some 77

if ya got 1/12 stay with around 55

if 1/7 you can go heavy 52,77 to 100gr

Theres alot of good ammo to pick from
