I have an old A1 type rifle with 16 inch barrel.

If I swap an 11.5 inch barrel on the upper, would it work reliably?

Do I have to change other parts in lower or upper receiver?

Replacement parts here are new. Major brands available here.
Maybe it would be better to leave the rifle as it is.

Its my one and only AR at the moment.
Thus it serves as my defense and target/plinking rifle.
An all purpose AR, if ever you could call it one.
I just thought an 11.5 inch barrel would be easier to handle.

Anything under 16" has to be registered......Be careful, If you put an 11.5 on an unreg firearm you will have to have a welded on brake to make the total length 16", if this is the case then what is the point

I am from the Philippines.
We can own anything here including howitzers, grenade launchers, and other military stuff.

I don't know, you obviously got a good balance going.

Have a nice day.
