I'm looking for some advice on where to look
for a barrel. Here's an idea of what I have
in mind:

20" - 22" stainless steel bull barrel
black oxide finish or black teflon finish
target crown
fully chambered w/ enough throat for 60-75 gr
     bullets
1/8" or 1/9" twist
railed gas block

Any idea where I can find such a beast?

That is similar to what I have been looking for, but with a shorter barrel.

I have decided to stay with the bare metal for now.

For your case, you might try Steve at ADCO Firearms[url]http://www.adcofirearms.com[/url] (he has a forum in the industry section).  He can set you up with a RRA barrel and then I [b]think[/b] that he can do some sort of finish for it.

Try OlympicArms.  They have what they call SUM (Stainless Ultra Match) barrels.  You can get them in many lengths, bull barrel or standard, fluted or standard and 1/8 & 1/10 are standard twists.  You can have anything else made up for an extra $35 or so.

I had mine made in a SUM 5.56, it doesn't show on the web or catalog, but it shoots fantastic.  It is the best barrel/ bang for your buck that is available.  

There are plenty of people that don't like Oly for a variety of reasons (usually rumors), but you never find any serious shooters complaining about their SUM barrels, they are fantastic.

I took a look at the SUM barrels at Sniper
Country. They look pretty much ideal. What's
the advantage to the 5.56 chamber? I'm planning
to mostly shoot 62gr fodder. I'm not sure
which twist to go with, either. I was planning
on getting a 1/9". Not a big deal, I guess.
Also, I notice that they don't come with a
barrel nut. Will that cause problems with
installing a DCM legal free float tube?

Most SS barrel come with a 1/8 twist.
Free float tubes use their own custom barrel nuts.
