Since I unfortunately live in MA, I am still subject to the assault weapon ban. Ma adopted the federal AWB word for word. With this in mind, can I legally attach a "tactical muzzle break" (as J&T distributing calls it) onto a threaded barrel? I know the law says muzzle devices must be permanantly attached. In other words, were threaded barrels legal under the federal ban as long as a muzzle break has been permanantly attached. The reason for my question is that I'd like to build an SP-1 look-alike and I was wondering if I could buy a surplus gov't barrel and have the flash hider replaced with a muzzle break.

I think Fulton Armory and Rock River Arms both had false/fake Flash Suppressors if you wanted to go that route instead of the comp. They were designed during the AWB to simulate the look of a FS and can also be permanently installed.
