at my local saturday hangout/gunstore he had a ar180 looked like junk but was new looking what is it?

Gas piston 5.56mm rifle, designed sorta as an easier-to-make AR15 for production in countries without huge industrial bases. Its mechanism is pretty much the one used in the (bullpupped) SA-80 and G36.

The original AR-180s are good rifles. Armalite doesn't seem to happy about evilifying the new AR-180Bs
