I have an Oly k-8 flat top upper  ...I was told that any weaver style mounts will work on this ...is this true? and is it a weaver style base ?

picatinny is actually what it is but similar

Weaver has smaller spaces on it for crossbolts, so a Weaver device fits on Picatinny (albeit with some play before tightening) but Picatinny doesn't fit on Weaver.
