Howdy all.  I've been patiently pondering a SureFire setup for my RAS for the past few months now.  I already have a KAC 1" flashlight mount for the RAS and am considering the purchase of a SureFire Original (waterproof, USN specs) 6P light and attempting some kind of shock-isolation mods on it so it could effectively withstand sustained recoil from my AR.  Yes, I have read all of the previous posts regarding the shock-proof  worthiness of "non-weapon" SureFire lights, and I do understand that people have experienced light failures on their weapons because they tried to use such setups.  It's clear that SureFire simply didn't design thier "regular" lights to withstand the kind of sharp, violent shock associated with weapon recoil.  Nonetheless, I've seen certain accessories manufactured/sold by SureFire that when outfitted to the 6P, apperar to render it "weaponized" and able to withstand firearm use.  Specifically, I'm refering to the "Z32" Shock Isolated Bezel and the "223AC" 6V Recoil Proof Battery.   Will these two accessories together make the 6P as "weapon worthy" as any Surefire weapon light???  I'd love to hear the informed opinion of any dealers or other shooters who have experience regarding this issue.  Below I listed the exact setup I've been thinking about.  Let me know what you think.  Thanks.

SureFire 6P Orginal, Waterproof USN Spec.
SureFire P61 High Output (120lumen) Lamp
SureFire Z32 Shock Isolated Bezel
SureFire 223AC Recoil Proof Battery
SureFire S06 Single Tape Switch (6"0)
Knight's Armament Co.  1" Flashlight Mount

Degrees of protection.

I've done what you've stated, then switched to a Surefire weapons light to ensure it's survival, and by extension, my survival.

The original 6P, which I have a couple of, isn't waterproof.  The tailcap leaks.  I don't know about the USN model.

The Z32 shock isolated bezel allows the lamp assembly to move about 1/4" and is used to help with a 6P, G2 or even the classic 650/950 series lights.

The P61 has more long range reach, mainly useful outdoors.  Shorter battery life is the tradeoff

I don't like the idea of the tape switches, too much to go wrong - snag the cable, break the switch, etc... YMMV

223AC battery is (2) regular batteries, with a shock washer between them, covered in shrink wrap, making them function as a single unit.  This won't help in a 6P, since it can still slide forward into the lamp assembly

The fix is the 650 classic weapon light, which has a machined shelf in the body that positively stops the batteries from intruding into the lamp compartment.

If you go a 650, I'd suggest you get the 950.  It's a 3 battery unit, and can be converted to the 2 battery 650 whenever you want.  More flexible setup.

I have fired over 100 rounds with a standard 6P, lit (weaker filament when hot) w/out failure.   The 5.56mm AR doesn't have that much recoil.  Also, you'll find a post here about a model 500 weapon light failing.  Nothing is 100%, but we do what we can to reduce risk.

If you have the money, suggest you contact [email protected]
and pick up a 950, with the tape switch if that's your pleasure.

I'll take some pics to show you everything.

Generally, the handheld lights are not a good choice for weapon mounting.  The military recently had to mount G2 Nitrolons because Surefire couldn't provide the numbers of weaponlights needed.  however, the risk of the light failing is much greater with the handheld lights being mounted on a weapon.  As figh4 stated before, nothing is 100%.  A lot of people mount 6Ps and G2s to weapons due to budget, but if you save a little more cash, the the dedicated weapons lights aren't that much more as to make them unattainable And in the end you will probably save you more money by buying the dedicated system which is made to be more shock resistant.

I've used the Surefire 6P w/Z32 bezel + Knights flashlight mount setup for years with absolutely zero problems.

Thanks for the insightful comments and pics...I can clearly see how much more "weapon worthy" the weapon lights really are.  As for me...I'll be going with a dedicated weapon light setup from SureFire.  Thanks!
