I was looking at my broken Charging Handle today (I also got my DSL on today!)
Attempting to make a new latch because I want to try to fix this myself.

Well upon closer inspection, I found a rather interesting stamp from the manufacture of this handle....

Anyone else seen this before???

Thanks

Either it means the part is cheesy or the manufacturer is a rat.

I was thinking the same thing...

LOL I got the upper used so I don't know dick about it, except its heavy barrel XM177 style with "1/9 NATO" on the barrel.... It came with M4 guards since been swapped to CAR style.

Anyway the latch took a dump at the pivot pin so Im thinking about making one out of some .125" steel or aluminum (proll aluminum)

Anyone know what the stamp is, and any problems with a steel latch? I know they are like $3.99-15.00 or so, but I can make one easily with my tools so I'd rather DIY....

Thanks

Next question: Is that CH a total POS or what?? Im wondering if this whole upper is a "sherluk" upper, as the price is pretty cheap for the version of mine that list....Since Im gonna fix this latch, should I just go ahead and buy one from some other vendor and keep the sherluk as a spare???

Also Ive noticed all these uppers are 11.5" + 5.5" brake... hrmm... 17" right?? So that means a custom XM brake could be more closely matchined to sorta look more real since theres an extra 7/8" length to work with...

Thanks for the info!!

Sherluk doesn't make their own uppers so you're at the whim of whomever they obtain them from.

I'd keep it as a spare. Get a forged one from a known manufacturer.

Figuring in approximately 1/2" overlap with the threads, it should come out around 16 1/2".

Thanks for the info!!

Actually there's 0.5" on each side that overlap. Thus you actually lose 1". So a 11.5" + 5.5" = 16"
