i tried to search for this but couldn't find any results. when sighting through my aimpoint i notice that when the red dot is at "dead center" there's a red ring or halo on the outer edges of the optical glass. any purpose, uses, mine broken? thanks

Thats what I was thinking.  Sounds like you have it a click higher than what you should.

Like others have said,
When you see that Halo, you have it turned up too much.
It's normal.

Personally,
I have found that setting 3 works good for little or no light.

4-5 for indoors.

and 7-8 for bright daytime use.
