I am thinking of putting in a 9mm buffer in my current build.  Lower is a lmt with sopmod stock and upper is a 16 inch carbine gas system.

I have heard I should get smoother operation and less stress on some parts.  Is this true???  ANyone have any "downsides" or potential problems I don't see???

Thanks

It may cause your carbine to short stroke on .223 loaded ammo.  I haven't had it happen even with Wolf polymer.

Try it, you'll like it.

any adverse effects on a middy?  does the gas system matter for heavier buffers?
