hello from TEXAS... do any of you guys cruise the local "junkshops" and hit the local weekend yard/garage sales? my dad is a junkshop shopper and i picked it up from him.. you would be surprised at what kind of gun items you can find for pennys on the dollar!
but as far as ar specific finds post them here and let everybody hear your "find of the century" story, here's my current bragging story.
a small junkshop in cleveland TEXAS is one of my favorite stops about once or twice a month. yesterday i stopped in and found several odds and ends but i found the "good stuff" behind the counter where the owner lets me dig thru the small items he stashes back there.
i found 2 sets of the buttstock cleaning kits in the rubberish bag for the m-16..1 was perfect the other has a little rust on a couple of the cleaning rod sections, i also found 1 of the newer cleaning kits designed to be worn on the webgear.. it was unopened and complete with clp and lsa oil! found a 20 rnd simmons marked ar mag, has some wear but functions fine. and i think this was a pretty good deal, a safariland tactical sling model vts-5 for colt type carbines(it's on my pwa m4 now) it was in the package unopened.. walked out of the store with all of this "junk"
for .....$8.00....!
was a good day at the junk shop...
let's hear some of ya'lls victory tales!

Best yard sale buy for an AR was an excellent condition Camouflaged German M-42 single decal helmet. I paid $15.00 for it at a yard sale and sold it at the OGCA show in Cleveland for $250.00. I used the money to buy my first AR at the same show. That was 1991.

Model 94 Winchester five feature carbine in great shape, manufactured in February 1895. Paid $125 at a garage sale. Oh, AR. Nothing yet. J

Older model than above, but got a Simmons ATAK 4.5x14x44 new in box for $25 at a yard sell, last year. Wasn't gonna stop, but noticed Simmons scope box and turned around, good deal on "okay" hunting scope. Retails for $120-140. Mike

Preban 30 rounders. 8.00 each. I bought 10. Doh! I should have bought all 50 of them and resold them. And then, this one time, I swapped a lower for Bushmaster postban with a guy name badassjohn. Killed a TON of hogs with the rifle that he previously owned. TRG

Several boxes of M16 mags for free, that is if I can find them in my budy's stepdad's basement before he does.

Honestly, that is the Best AR I have ever owned. It has taken more than its fair share of hog meat. It is now a home defense gun. I have a preban that I am using for hogs nowadays. TRG
