I know about the differences between Military and SAMMI spec chambers (i.e. 5.56 vs. .223 and 7.62 vs. .308) in rifles. I have never heard of similar chamber relationships in pistols. Until I ran across this in the HK Mark 23 manual:

The main differences are slide Markings (Mark 23 as opposed to MK 23) and a barrel manufactured to SAMMI headspace specifications.

Are there other examples of this difference in chamber types found in pistols?

The only instance I can think of is the .45acp\.45 super.  The super is just a hotter load, that requires heavier springs.  Both will chamber in a regular barrel, but the super will beat a weak springed gun to pieces.  I do believe that the super case has been beefed up around the web to make up for the higher pressures.
