I know this has been discussed here, but I haven't found a real answer to my question. I know there is a slight difference between the two rounds, and to shoot whatever your rifle is marked with, as thats what it is built for. But what if your AR is marked ".223/5.56"?

I'm ASSuME-ing that it would be fine to shoot both, but being a complete novice at the game, figured I'd make sure.

Thanks,
Chris

Are there any markings on the barrel?

Your 5.56 barrel can handle either.

If the barrel is marked 5.56 then you can shoot both .223 and 5.56.
Generally you shouldn't shoot 5.56 through a .223 marked barrel. Excessive pressure could result. The .223 only barrels are generally for users that want a more accurate rifle.

The wylde chamber is compromise between the two and allows both rounds to be shot with good accuracy.
