Well, I just got a commission check and will use about $1500.00 of it to buy a new toy. Here is where you guys come in. Last time I asked a similar question I ended up buying a Armalite M15A2 and a Colt MT6400C in two seperate occasions. So here I am again! I am considering a Colt LE6920, Bushmaster 20" with gov't profile barrel, Sig P239 (CCW), or Colt Python (just because) and of coarse any other ideas you guys may have. What you decide is what I buy as I did last time. Thanks!

Scrape up just a tad more and get a DSA Congo Rifle or maybe an Ohio Rapid Fire G3 clone. That's what I would do given that you already have a couple of ARs.

I just spent $1300 on an FN Five Seven and a Bushmaster Bullpup.

Why you ask?

I have the feeling both those guns will be illegal soon, and I wanted to be gandfathered in.

At $600 for the bullpup and $700 for the five seven, you can't go wrong.

Bushmaster BAR-10 .308!

There's nothing like a reliable .308 AR-type rifle that uses un-modified FAL mags.

Just a thought.

I kind of like those bull pups. I considered one instead of building an AR but thought twice. Yeah its cool but besides a ultimak rail...there isn't much for them. AR leaves me with millions of options.

I jus twent through the same predicament.  MY big money item turned out to be a custom DSA sa58c.  But I'm already saving up for an LRB m-14.

IF you got 1500 to spend you have SOO many great options.  Listen to these guys, they are great recomenders.

The key word here is "reliable".  Just get a FAL.

I'll be different and say to Go SIG! If you don't already have a pistol to CCW, one would be invaluable.  The P239 would be a great choice, but have you looked into or tried out the P229?

This is the one I have on order. Should be here soon...
It is a wee bit more than the fixed stock version. While you are there check out the other rifles on their collector's series. The G1 might be a good choice given your price constraints but I'd drop a little more and go for it if these are what you want!

Make sure you specify the evil features you want!

Wait till Weds.morning to decide. Kerry wins, get the nastiest knukle dragging beast you can afford.Bush wins, get what you really want.it seems that things will only get more expensive with Kerry around.

Save a couple more dollars and get either a 1918a3 (Semi auto BAR) or the Semi auto BREN.  These would be the coolest.  If you already have an Ar-15 go for a classic.

Build yourself an AR from quality parts.  It can be done for around $750, then get $750 worth of mags and ammo and have a ball.

I vote for the Colt Python. I bought one nib in 1973. Shot thousands of rounds, several deer, nunerous other vermin, and it still looks and shoots like new. I am a little pissed @ Colt but I would overlook it if I was interested in a handgun.

ccw = airweight .38

if you're goin for something that might be banned soon though, you can probably find a 50 or a 50/ar upper for that much.

I have the Sig P229 (.357sig) and P226 (9mm) and love them.   I have narrowed my search a little and will get the pistols later because I can save $550.00 a lot faster than $500.00 (what I really mean is hide it from the wife easier). I am really considering the LE6920 (which will conclude my AR collection) or get/build a M14.
