Here's a suggestion.....why not E-mail YHM who now build the ZMz. The silence is probably due to the lack of people owning ZMs rather than a general distrust of reindeer gobbling folk.

Just curious as to why it matters who made the raw forgings. The final machining is more critical than the forging itself.

ZM is best known for its 'tubeless' ZM-300 upper rather than its lowers, hence the paucity of responses. How did you come by a ZM lower? I suspect that its probably a contract lower from CMT but that is just a guess.

I don't know anything about Z-M products, but I do know a nice looking retro project when I see one.
-----looking good, Fin!! I don't own a throw-back/retro AR, but had a chance to handle an original, genuine M16A1 recently, and I will say the overall engineering and ergonomics were amazing. Seeing yours - and those like them - its no wonder there is a resurgence of retro builds going on |
