Hello all. First post.Been reading for a while and seems like some knowledgable people here. Please allow me to pick your brains.I've got about three choices for under $700.It's between an Olympic CAR-97,Eagle Arms or a Bushmaster bullpup.Any input or other suggestions would be much appreciated.

Wait until you have enough for a Bushmaster AR.. you will be glad you did.

Welcome! My Pre-Ban Oly serves me well and I have built around 2 Eagle Arms lowers without a hitch. As far as a Bullpup, I don't know. My last 2 builds have run around $680 each. Not much help, but again welcome! Which part of VA. are you from? Danny

Welcome! I agree, save a bit more and get what you want. You will never regret spending more on what you want.

You could always build what you want and save some money. It's not all that hard and if you do run into a snag there's alot of good folks here to help ya' out.

Thanks for the input.I'm on the fence about the chrome/non-chrome lined issue. There are plenty of older weapons(that I have inspected and fired) that don't have chrome lining and still feed reliably and have bright bores and sharp rifling.Maybe someone here can push me on one side or the other. MM419,I live in Albemarle Co.Thanks for the welcome.

OK do you want something that MAY last a long time or something that WILL last a long time?

Unless you are running a precision rig, go chrome or go home![:D]

fearthenight, I'm next door to you in Nelson. I have the tools and experience if you decide to build. IM or Email through the site if interested. I also have a range here, hours are somewhat limited. Danny

there are Bushmasters for sale here http://www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/XM15_E2S_20__A3_Heavy_Bbl_Rifle.html for 770 dollers or so, so that is very close to your price range, the A2 may be a bit cheeper. Jesse

OK,OK I think you all have swayed me to go with the chrome lining.I do believe I'll save a tad more and go with the Bushmaster(not the bullpup). Thanks for the input.
