Hey guys, just wondering after all the money you spend on rifle/scopes. If you have your AR for back yard fun, carbine classes/competition or do you actually use it for work.

Or you could be just a lil rich kid fooling around daddy back yard.

I don't use a rifle for work anymore. Mine are all for recreation/poss. competition, and home defense. But, I insist on top quality in my gear. I decided a while back that I'd be better served with two or three top quality rigs than a few cheap ones with cheap accessories that could potentially fail.

Carbine classes and fun range time.

I may consider competition in the future but for now, just those two purposes.
Link Posted: 4/28/2011 10:48:07 AM EDT
Several of my ARs are for fun at the range, and several others are for training/defensive use. I tend to keep a distinct line between the two types, because several of my range toys have items on them that may not be suitable for defensive use-like lightweight adjustable match triggers for example.

Both..

I took a dooty in teh woods once and used my ar as a brace to help keep me from falling back in the dooty. Bad knees....
Link Posted: 4/28/2011 10:58:02 AM EDT
All my rifles are for fun, hunting and just in case. Not necessarily in that order.
Link Posted: 4/28/2011 10:59:44 AM EDT
For pleasure both in the field and at the range. One is set up for predator hunting and the other personal defense.
Link Posted: 4/28/2011 10:59:44 AM EDT
3 Gun, home defence, and pleasure

I don't feel the need to waste my money on cheap gear, I would rather buy something that will last a lifetime once.

I shoot for pleasure, but build them with worst case scenario in mind.

It'd probably make for a weird day if I took mine to work.

I use mine to defend the planet.

Ditto...

Work & training for work is fun.
Link Posted: 4/28/2011 5:19:18 PM EDT
Recreation/hobby, HD, and occasional competition as of recently.

As for spending a bunch of money on guns, guilty. But only because I had some cheap stuff in the beginning and learned first hand what quality was. I'm a value guy; I don't sacrifice quality but I also don't own any Noveske or KAC rifles.

in case the mad scientist next door has a human experiment go wrong. that or when the zombies and/or charlie sheen attack. nah, just reacreational shooting mostly, a little coyote hunting, don't have the time or money for a carbine class at the moment.

Pleasure for now, if shit hits the fan, it will turn into duty use.

I have a fancy 20'' AR15A2 for competition and a stock 20'' AR15A2 for everything else.

I am also a huge fan of spongebob and need to fix my printer (both of these statements are factually accurate).

Birddog is spot on. I've got 2 (BCM and BM) one is set-up as my go to,the BCM and the Bushy is an iron sighted backup/loaner/kids or wife gun.

Range, fun, self defense, and general SHTF scenarios. For instance, I live in the south east. We have been ravaged by an outbreak of tornadoes. Thank God that I am not affected. My heart goes out to all that are. But areas not too far from me were hit hard and there are reports of looters. In several instances, almost every police and emergency vehicle in a single town has been destroyed leaving the citizens to fend for themselves the best they can until they can get back up and running. In this situation I can think of no other weapon I would rather have.

Both.

I don't "train", I shoot, and not nearly as often as I'd like. I hunt when I can (sometimes with an AR, sometimes not), I go to the range when I can. I haven't done any kind of competition in years.
