I'm in need of a BUIS and I'm looking at the YHM and the ARMS #40. The YHM is a bit cheaper and I'm wondering if one is necessarily better than the other and if it's worth the extra $$ for the ARMS. Thanks.

Hey knees,

I have been thinking of this sight. I would really like to hear from someone who has used one too.

I like the YHM in that it can be locked in the up or down position.

The only real disadvantage of the YHM is that it can't be mounted as far back as the ARMS 40. It has to be centered over a slot in the flat top. This is only a problem if your primary optics are not high enough to go over the folded sight, in which case they get pushed forward.

I use my rifle every day for patrol work and i have YHM BUIS and they have been on the rifle for about a year now and i love them. Never had a problem with them. Just my $.02

I too am torn btw these 2 ...

Could someone clear up a FSB compatablilty issue?
I was under the impression the ARMS #40 "needed" a taller front sight post?
Does this hold true as well with the YHM?

Thanks!

I am using the YHM BUIS, an EOtech 511, and the standard FSB on a flattop. The BUIS and EO are mounted directly to the top and co-witness perfectly with the FSB.

I think the ARMS 40 was made to be compatible with the taller Colt front sight base. If you have the Colt front base, a standard sight post will work, otherwise you'll probably need the longer post.

The YHM works fine with the rest of the industry "standard parts".
