Going to buy a case of ammo later this month and ammoman.com has both for sale at the same price. I have only shot a small amount of each and the time between both was pretty long so I really can't remember one being better than the other. Anybody have an opinion?

One important consideration is the brass as I am planning on reloading after the initial shot. I know that LC has crimped primers. Does Q3131A?

Thanks

Hoppy

These are both M193 spec, so are essentially identical as far as your rifle is concerned. Note literally all known cases of damaged AR15/M16 rifles which have "blown up" are the result of reloads. Plugged bores make up almost all the other cases. Want plinking ammo? Lots of good surplus and Russian commercial out there. -- Chuck

Yes, Q3131A does have crimped primers. I prefer the Q3131A to the XM193 only because the Q3131A is a bit quieter out of my 16".

Wholesale Hunter has the Federal XM193 on sale right now for $149.50 for 1,000 shipped. From what I hear, both companies are good to do business with, but in this case Wholesale Hunter is about $50 cheaper for the same thing. http://www.dealerease.net/catalog/subcategory.asp?scid=11&ret_id=373508

Don't forget to mention that you are a member of AR15.com to get that price.[devil]

One MIGHT do well, considering that given "as stated" these are both quality M193 ammo, the one that shoots the best and groups the tighest in YOUR rifle, should make the choice a no brainer. Mike

Does the q3131a have a smaller ... fireball than the xm193? My Bushmaster puts out a massive fireball with the xm193 ammo.

It does on mine, I could weld using XM193... it sure is cool in the evenings though.
