So I had a crazy idea.

That's a 7.62x25mm casing with a 147gr .308 FMJBT shoved in it. Would this be possible? What kind of loading would it take to make it work? I found that it fit in an AR mag. What kinda velocities and specs could I figure on something like this? Would it make a neat idea for a good suppressable round? 7.62x25 head spaces on the case shoulder right? Could a barrel be made to shoot this? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Reminds me of the 300 whisper.

That's kinda the idea I was going for but with more conventional components. I've always wanted to try out .300 whisper, but felt I didn't want to get into weird casings and larger harder to find bullets. I figured if I could make this work it would be about the same specs.

hhhmmmmm........ well design a upper for it and mass produce the ammo, im down for one.... looks like a short AK round, well basically thats all it is....

It looks like a baby .500 Phantom.

I dont know why but all of a sudden I am really interested for some reason.

At the velocities you are likely to acheive..... I think I'd rather shoot a .45ACP.

That aint much of a neck to grip the bullet, either.

Myself I wouldnt give it a thought

Contact JD Jones at SSK He already has done the R&D on it, IIRC it's called the 7.62 Micro Whisper.

I think Marty of Teppo Jutsu over in the Variants board has something similar, too.

I think to get any sort of useful performance, you'd be looking at pressures I wouldn't want to put in a pistol case! Good gravy! That just begs for a problem to happen!

So what kind of chamber would this use? From what I can find 7.62x25 uses a .308 diameter bullet, would this just chamber in a normal 7.62x25 barrel?

In theory, and with the right twist rates?

that would be another thing. what twist rate would I want?

from what I'm reading 1:8 would probably be ideal.

That could give those compensating for small peckers a real complex.

But for a subsonic load it would be less noisy and drop/deflect less than .45ACP would. It would recoil less too. Of course we are talking less terminal performance than an MP5SD as well and thats not very good to begin with.
