I'm in the middle building my first ar15 so i picked up a couple boxes of various ammo to try out, I was looking at this box of 55 gr. wolf and found this primer on one of the rounds.... Anybody ever seen something like this? Yes I know my camera sucks but anyway... The primer is actually missing the top part in this picture. What would happen if I would of shot this round? (obviously not going to but just wondering)

if it fired I would expect the primer to blow out.

If the outside shell of the primer is missing it couldn't fire, the priming compound is inside the outer shell, no outer shell, no bang.

Someone told me that only half of the bullet would go down range.

I sometimes have that happen when I reload, every 2,000 rounds or so. And it usually happens when I'm trying to set a new land speed record for reloading.

Had a Federal .32 Auto Hydro-shok with the primer in sideways.  Contacted Federal about it and they sent me a brand new box of .32 Auto Hydro-shoks.  Thank you Federal.

I have a Federal hydro shok in 380 auto I bought in the 90s before CCI bought them with the bullet loaded in backwards. That was the last  time I ever bought a federal load.

No, no. They told you wrong! The entire bullet goes downrange, only half as far. It's only half the CASE that ejects!
