Yeah and the .308 is in a soft point, that means it won't  work well in a semi auto...

Who's semi-auto?  I wouldn't own a gun that would only feed FMJ.

I don't think they will offer it in .223/5.56 since they just started marketing this stuff.

At the Costa Mesa gunshow on 3/4/06, 2/4/06 Miwall was selling the M193 Wolf Gold battle packs. I forgot what the price was but the stuff looked good. They are in glossy green PVC packs and they have the Wolf name and info printed on them in yellow ink so it wont be hard to ID them and not get scammed by someone passing Santa Barbara or some other 5.56 battlepack as this stuff.

I should have bought some

I was at the Costa Mesa show too.  The Wolf Battle Packs were marked "M193" and "5.56."  Looked promising but it was about the same price as the Q3131 they were selling so I went with Q3131.

Costs as much/more than Federal.

True, but when I look at the Ammo Price List under Federal XM193 I see a bunch of "OUT OF STOCK" notes...   So the way I look at it is even if Wolf Gold is priced high, having another source will be a good thing.  (Assuming it's high quality).

Texas Academy stores sell ammo under the "Monarch" brand, which is usually made by Barnaul (.223 and 7.62x30). Recently, they've started carrying ammo for common hunting calibers, and it says "Made in Serbia" on the box.

I never had any luck with soft point feeding from various USGI M-14 mags, Fal and AR-10 mags.  So now I only use FMJ or ballistic tips. With the ballistic tips being as good as they are I have NO need for soft points...
