Hello all, Could anyone tell me which is hotter Wolf 55 Gr or Wolf 62Gr? Or should I try the Silver Bear stuff.  I am a big time target shooter, and I'm looking for reliable, inexpensive, blasting ammo. Any takers?

66 gr. is always hotter than 55 because it has to move a heavier bullet, right?

Huh?  No.  Bullet weight has nothing to do with 'hotter' or not.

I've never chonorgraphed wolf ammo, but by their docs:

55grain = 3241 FPS
62grain = 3025 FPS

I'd guess its the same powder charge in both.   The 62 grain would generate a bit more pressure, but thats about it.

I've crono'd both in a 20" bushy A2 @12' w/ pact mod.1 the fps are for a 20 shot avg.,  the 55 avg.  3080fps w/es of 97fps. and the 62fmjs 2830fps w/es of 128fps, also pulled 20 bullets of the 55fmjs, only 2 weighed 55gr. , the rest were between 53.2 and 56grs.,  never crono'd any of the 55 hp but it is the best grouping (2.5in)of any of the wolf in the bushy, the 55&62fmjs 5 shot groups are from 2.75 to 3.5 @100yrds

Ndenway,
               Thanks for your reply, I'll give the Wolf 62Gr FMJ a try. I'm sure my new 20" A2 range rifle will love it............
