Ok I have seen the posts about the beating the front sight to align it, but what about a flat top with a scope that runs out of adjustment before it will get to point of aim? Up till now at 200 yards I couldn't get any closer that 2 feet to the right of point of aim. I have tried 2 different scopes and 2 different sets of rings. Today I got to looking at one set of rings and there is about 1/16 difference if I set one ring with tightening nut to one side of the reciever and other one the other direction. Now this got me on paper but this is not the correct way to do this. Any ideas? Would the barrel not be square to the reciever?

mick500, Barrel could be bent, or the face of the receiver (where the barrel seats) might not be true.

One thing you can do is buy some Burris Signature rings with the posilign inserts. You can get them with different thickness on one side of the insert compared to the other. This way you can shift your scope into alignment before ever using the scopes controls. Check out the Burris website for more info.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I will check into these rings. I had seen talk about some that Barrett sells that are suppose to be adjustable but they are $180.00. OUCH.

I agree with the opinion that you barrel may not be square with your receiver. I would have a good gunsmith look it over or call the manufacturer before spending $$ on a adjustable set of rings. I can see some adjustment needed when mounting a scope on a flat top but it certainly should be within the scope's mid range. If the barrel is out you may end up with chambering problems as well. Not a good thing.......... pwiz

Sounds like the barrel is not seated/torqued correctly. See if a local gunsmith can check/correct this before you purchase more parts.
