About all I know is that it seems to involve using both eyes to use a telescopic sight. Does it require the reticles in some of the ACOGs? How does it work? Advantages? Disadvantages? What if, like me, you are cross-eye dominant?

Proabably will work better for you honestly.  Your brain superimposes the lit reticle from the scopes magnified image over the other eyes non magnified image.  So you can see either a 1X view or a magnified view.  Its nothing special just requires practice and a lit reticle and any lit reticle scope can do this.

Close an Aimpoint front cover and use both eyes open.  One eye sees the unmagnifed image and the other the reticle on a black background... same concept.
