Here's my situation and what I'm looking to do. For those in the know, please let me know if it will work.

I can't afford a RAS, don't really like the Fobus/Samco m44 handguards and don't want the light on the bottom of the handguards (bad for barricade or sandbags) and I would like to keep my M4 handguards. GG&G makes a mount for the M3 that can be placed at NE, SE, SW or NW positions on the handguard. That seems to be the only option to a rail on the bottom. However, will a Surefire mount work with it? I'm planning on either the 952 or 962 light.

Only the old pistol lights for Glocks will fit the M3 mount perfectly. You just need a small section of 1913 spec rail to bolt in instead of the M3 mount.

DevL, That's the rub. There's no problem getting picatinny rail that is shaped to fit the bottom of the handguards. But to my knowledge, no one makes a piece contoured for the curve of the handguards. I'd like to place it in the same location as the millenium500 handguards, but I'm not finding any options.

Why not mount it in a Wilson Combat mount? It will be in almost the same location and will allow you to mount it on the left or right side and has an included sling mount. It comes with a ring for a 6P type light but you dont have to use that ring you can mount the Millenium Surefires directly to the rails on either side of the front sight.

You dont really mention which Surefire you wanted to use. I've been using two GG&G M3 mounts for two Classic series 660 lights for years now. No problems whatsoever. These pics are not exactly of the light/mount, but they are somewhat visible. You could use a screw type mount with no issues as you can tighen it further but the ARMS throw lever mounts would probably not lock up tight and a pistol light would not attach at all.

new-arguy, Your setup looks workable. What ring are you using, a 1" scope ring? Or is it a ring from Surefire?

new-arguy, I think you've solved my problem. I checked out Surefire's site and Sableco. GG&G's mount, Surefire 950 from Sableco and a Samco flashlight mount should have me fixed up just about right. Too bad Surefire doesn't make their classic and other long gun lights in nitrolon.

It is a Surefire ring.

But grossly over-priced from Surefire BTW:-)! Most gunshops/shooters have scads of extras for the asking. Ghost
