I am building my wife an AR.  she has a particuler request I am having a hard time filling.

She wants a 16" M4 stainless barrel.  I can find stainless 16s, I can find black M4s, really hard time finding stainless M4s.

I did find this one from DS Arms, but I have seen some reviews about "forever shipping" on the site.  Does anyone have good stories on DS you can share or can point me to another source for a Stainless 16" M4?

Thanks

C

Just wondering if you are going stainless why so much stress on the M4 contour? It would be counter productive in my opinion.

Wilson Combat makes GREAT barrels.  Here's a 16" SS with M4 cuts, but not M4 profile that's in stock.

Can you explain why you place emphasis on stainless and M4 profile as I understand it?   As mentioned above its counter productive.  Stainless due to color maybe?   M4 for weight?   Stainless will perform better heavier.  If its is the stainless color you need, you would be better served with a heavy profile.  If weight is more important then get a hammer forged or melonite M4 profile.  Stainless barrels have a shorter life.  If corrosion resistance is the feature you need go melonite.  Good luck.

I hear ya.  Go back to my first sentence.  For my wife.  She like the look of the stainless and the look of the M4 profile.

Why does Noveske offer LW profiles in each size of their SS barrels if it's counterproductive to have LW SS barrels?
I'm not trying to be a dick, I really am curious. Thanks

Being honest I have no idea???  I have had one stainless barrel in my life.  All I have ever read and researched says stainless has a shorter life span and does not hold up to high heat as well. So let me caveat my earlier possibly arrogant sounding statement.  My comments on stainless are from reading and research not real life experience as I have only had one stainless barrel.

I will say this Noveske as a general rule is great stuff.  But I don't think just because it says noveske on it means it's infoulable.  That said as far as I know the barrels you speak of are as good as any other Noveske barrels.  Which I believe are awesome.

In most cases a good stainless barrel will out last the user.  Here is a write up from Bigbore on a heavily used satinless barrel and the results from 15k rounds through it.
