You would think that this would be everywhere considering it is such a popular caliber.  Do most countries shoot it all up?

my guess is that it while it is a popular caliber, the volume isn't the same as 556. How many 556 designed weapons are fielded compared to 9mm designed weapons? My guess is less than 100-1

Several months ago Ammoman had cases of Nato 9mm M2 Ball for sale at pretty good prices.  He had this available for probably a year.

Where is a good source for NATO 9mm M2 ball ammo now?

I've always understood that 9mm is a very Western/North American round, with 9x18M being more popular throughout the rest of the world.  9x18M surplus can be found, AIM had some not very long ago (Czech).

When I was a Bn Ammo manager waiting on my Medical Board, I found out that the 9mm usage of USASOC was 2 times as large as the rest of the US Army.

WCC does make milspec 9MM ball that they do not sell to the military.  Its marketed as Winchester Ranger 9mm ball.  Its not marked +P, just that the presures exceed industry standards.

So you can find US Milspec rounds.  As to other countries 9mm I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy.  Ive shot Venezuelan, Colombian (INDUMIL) and Hondouran produced 9mm and it scared me.............

Well It beats Colt subguns to death, breaking stainless hammer and trigger pins every day.

Yep its hot.  Someone really into the science could post the specs on it.  Put it to you this way, shoot 3 grand of this in a day and your going to be feeling it for a long time

Over the past 10 years or so I have seen only a few countries export 9mm to the US. The danish stuff came thru about 10 years ago and the spanish stuff was still around about a year ago.  They prolly shoot almost all of it or surplus it to the cops, as almost all of europe uses 9mm.

The reason you don't see 9mm being imported, or military run-offs is simple. MONEY.

There has been very little demand for 9mm.  Prices have been SO near cost for SO many years there has been little profit in it.

It still remains pretty cheap, but that is changing.

The prices for 9mm have been increasing and I'm sure if they increase or stay high you will see some big imports.

One of the other problems with imports has been the weak dollar.  The dollar has made importation much less attractive today, then say 5 years ago.  Alot of this is psychological on the part of the importers.

The weak dollar has impacted all importable calibers.

Great answers.  Keep them coming.  I did buy up quite a bit of the Hirtenberger Austrian ammo but only shoot that in an Uzi.

Another reason is that for long years and probably even now in some countries it was illegal to own/posses or shoot a police or military caliber pistol so by having a 9x18 it technically become a non military firearm so the citizens  may legaly use them as the armies and cops had 9mm.Got this from a Guns And Ammo article back in the start of late 80's gun bans

My theory is you don't have many 9mm heavy machine guns.
