An interesting statement from the Wholesale Hunter web page that is linked in the post above.

[red]*Note: There is no difference in Q3131 or Q3131A. Both numbers are used by Winchester for the same bullet[/red]

Makes you wonder if they know what they are talking about.

To them there isn't any difference, just like the different lots of XM193.  We have just become a little picky about our ammo.  Everything on their site says Q3131A so no worries.  Now I have to call all my non-shooting friends and have them order a case.

I've ordered the Q3131A from them in the past.  It is Q3131A, and is good stuff.  Sucks though that this time there is a one case limit.

edited to add "sucks"

Ditto!
Last time I got the XM193 from them and it was great stuff too. I brought it to a group shoot this weekend and just about everyone agreed that is was too dang loud, the loudest out of all ammo used out there and we must have tossed 20,000 rounds downrange.. too fun! The accuracy at 100yds was great however. I'm hoping this Q3131A will be just as accurate.

I ordered one case yesterday.

Is this the Israeli-made, or the American made?

Q3131A is from Israel.

I do believe Q3131 (USA made) has been out of production for a few years.

I've never bought Q3131A, but at $176.50 per 1000, you're looking at just under 18 cents a round. This is within a penny of the WallyWorld Winchester (USA223R1VP) 40-round "value packs" I've been using.

How much better is Q3131A than my WallyWorld Winchester stuff?

Does anyone know of a website where the ballistics of these various .223 ammos are compared?

I use both Q3131a and the Wally World value packs.  With the value packs I loose about 100 fps muzzle velocity from a 20" 1/9.  That's fine for plinking, and I have nice new cases for reloading withour a primer crimp.  Also, the 46 gr HP value pack ammo is extremely accurate in my .223 bolt guns and AR's.

Just received my 1000 rounds of Q3131A from Wholesale Hunter.

Lot #TK22, headstamped "WCC 02" which I assume means 2002 production.

White "Winchester" box marked "5.56mm, 55 GR. FULL METAL JACKET, Q3131A".

20 rounds per box, packed loosely in staggered arrangement.

Case ordered on 4/28, received 5/2.  Price was $164.50 + 12.00 UPS shipping = $176.50.  This works out to 18 cents/round.

This will be my SHTF ammo, I have South African surplus M1A3 and SA commercial PMP for blasting and (hopefully) an Urban Rifle class at Thunder Ranch sometime in the next twelve months.

Haven't shot it yet, but I think this is a pretty decent deal.  Don't buy it all up, you buzzards!

Dang it...they just had to keep it on sale till I broke down and purchased another case.  Oh well, just more to blast away with.
