.223 SNIPER RIFLES!!, I can only hope that if a sniper ever squeezes off on me that he's shooting a .223.
The market is flooded with these things whats the thinking behind this? I'm especially fond of the scoped flattops with the great veiw of the front sight. Are all these experts that unaware of the abilities of .223 caliber |

You may also want to ask the victims of the DC area "sniper" how "effective" the .223/5.56 is for sniping.....

I know I shouldn't feed the trolls, but:

No need for a fancy $170 flip up front sight. |

Regardless of caliber. Shot placement is everythting. The .223/5.56 caliber round can be fairly easy to place where you want it. So since you prefer to be "sniped" with a .223, Where do you want it ?

... Come on fellas, I'm not convinced sckoyrsht is a troll yet. A low post count, controversial topics and poor sentence structure doesn't automatically make someone a troll. Give the guy/gal a break.
... I would like to look at his/her position a little closer. Maybe his remarks just came across to some of you a little differently than myself. ... He has some valid points. Outside of 100 yards .223/5.56 NATO external ballistics drop off the chart fast. Sure, it will accurately dispatch varmints all day long but if your target is "larger" the 308./7.62 NATO fills the role much more effectively. ... I love my AR15s but when "doing work at a stretch" nothing beats 168 grain HPBT for stability and lethality. The highest magnification I have on any of my AR's is that of the ACOG TA01NSN (4x32). Don't you think there were well researched reasons for that before the military issued them en masse? Like maybe inside 100 yards. ... Someday maybe we'll even talk about effective external ballistics with the .50 BMG, a subject I would very much like to learn more about; seeing how I just recently bought one! ... P.S. edited to add, did you notice any sight towers on any of those fine rifles in the military pics? Did you notice the military slowly taking interest in AR10s lately? |

If my man Squid didnt remember to lock it, I had fun reading this post to the end before I did.
Look man, if you are so short sighted and closed minded to realize there are different rifles for different purposes, then I doubt your intelligent enough to figure out that there's a much better way to get information that you clearly lack. Before you can go out and get a clue, you're going to have to come down off that pedistal. Its got you up too high to see most of the world moving on without you. Locked. |
