I've seen several pics of uppers mounted in a vice using a white plastic block that secures the upper with two detent pins.

Anyone know where I can get one of these? I already have the plastic block that fits into the mag well, but here are times I'd like to work on the upper only.

Thanks

That Upper Receiver Vice Block is made by DPMS. You can also get it from Brownells - Part #231-000-157. It sells for $49.90 at Brownells.

Along the same lines, which upper block is the best for barreling jobs? TIA

I just started using the Bushmaster hinged block type. In fact I pulled a barrel of an upper last night. Piece of cake, the block worked beautifully. +P+ rating for sure.

From the ADCO website:

Designed to be clamped in a vise to hold your upper. Can be used for re-barreling A4 uppers when clamped sideways and using a piece of wood as seen in the bottom pic.
How do you barrel your upper? As pictured with the block of wood or as in the upper pic? With my DPMS block, I've never felt the need to flip my upper sideways...

I didn't say that was the one I used or liked but that was what the original poster was looking for
