I need a flip up front sight that will hook up to a picatinney rail on the gas block.  Anyone make these?  PRI has a flip up, but it fits directly to .750" barrels.  I need one for a .935" barrel, or one that will clamp on the top of the gas block.

tony,

i *think* i understand what you are looking for, and to that end bushmaster make one:

"The new B.M.A.S. Detachable Front Flip Sight (patent pending) is designed to clamp snugly on the top rail of the B.M.A.S. Gas Block or other Picatinny rails with Allen screws for perfect repeat zero every time. Machined from aircraft aluminum billet, it locks up or flips down at the touch of a button. A standard A2 front sight post with spring and detent is installed offering elevation zeroing just as with the original M16A2 sight system."

this sight is designed to go atop the BM "3 rail Gas Block", but should work with your setup assuming the heights work out right:

"Part of Bushmaster's newly designed, modular system of high quality accessories for AR15/M16, the B.M.A.S. 3 Rail Gas Block can be ordered on new barrels as factory installed option, or we can factory retrofit existing sight bases on .750" barrels. It features a top and two side rails in standard Picatinny configuration, which allow you to add a flashlight or a laser as side mounts. The B.M.A.S 3 Rail Block is precision milled from gun steel and finished in black manganese phosphate and drilled and taped on the bottom for the addition of a sling swivel stud."

Tony, Fulton Armory makes one also that looks to be identical to the Bushmaster one.  The FA is the one I put on the .458 SOCOM you built for me using the 4 rail gas block and it worked out perfectly with the ARMS #40 rear.  No need for a taller post either with the .458 SOCOM.  The Bushmaster price is a little better than even the dealer price on the FA sight through Brownells, but since I had a big order going in to Brownells, to order just one part from Bushmaster the price difference would have been eaten up by shipping.

DaPhotoGuy,

are you still happy with your BMAS flip-up or did you go off in another direction?

thanks

After testing it to make sure I had it zeroed, I've never used it.  I always have my EoTech on the rifle and haven't had a need for the BUIS.  So, I guess I'm happy with it unless it breaks.  B^)  The PRI does really look nice.

You are most correct.  On the front of the FA site is stamped YHM.
