I'm going to build a varmint gun and my last one had a free float tube which was very cold on the hand at times.  But now that I think about it you're right, I'd be better off with a yhm quad rail and covers, thanks.

Why not a carbon fiber handguard?  They are uber-light and transfer less heat than even rubber-covered aluminum HG.

Hogue, but it gets really hot after a extended session. that was my reason for switching over to carbon fiber. No more toasted hands

Hogue FF forearms bite... Not only is it uncomfortable to hold after it heats up, the damn rubber starts to slide/peel back after it gets real toasty...

Okay I won't get the hogue, but I need an education on the other sugestion.  What does SPR stand for is it special purpose rifle?  Also, what is a "gas piston system" on an ar?  Thanks for the info, I'll look into the carbon fiber free float.
