I want to swap out the non f-marked front sight base on my new bushmaster barrel before I send it off to have a phantom permanently attached.

That way I understand that I can use normal length front sight posts.... I like the thin National Match posts for shooting.

If the FSB you have is already installed with taper pins, then the holes in your barrel are unique to that FSB, as the holes are drilled in the FSB and barrel together. In other words, there is no standard hole spacing (yes, it complicates things).

I got one for my Bushmaster from CMMG.  Had my barrel turned down, and needed a .625" F marked FSB.  They have every size/type of FSB imaginable.

Why not just install .04" front sight post?

Show me a .050" wide National Match front sight that is the extra .04" tall.

Thought most barrel's are turned to fit a batch of
front sight assembles, Making it hard install a new one.
that is why the are sold as a assemble.
