i ordered 1800 rounds from them yesterday, and the stuff shipped today, so, it is in stock.  don't know how much is left though.  i've shot about 3000 rounds of this stuff thorugh my various rifles, and have not yet had a hiccup.  i hope it isn't the end of it...

Well, I need to fully stock the Bradley and top off the M113. [;)]

Actually since this is the only ammo I've shot in the past two or so years, I want to get as much as I can.  With my shrike comming soon, I feel the need for more ammo.

Thanks for the info. on Widener's, but I have a question about some of their .223 Rem. ammo.  What is the "Barnaul" .223 Rem. FMJ ammo, and is it worth running through my new Armalite M15A2?  It is listed for $56.00 for 500 rounds, has anyone used it before and with what results?
Thanks for your help and all the great info.

Barnaul is almost identical to Wolf ammo.  It is probably steel cased ammo.

Thanks, it is what I thought it was.  Have you shot any of the Barnaul?

I've only shot the Barnaul 7.62x39 and 5.45 for my SAR1 and SAR2.  I've only used the battlepack ammo lately.  I've used some Q3131a but the flash is huge since q3131a doesn't have any flash retardant.   If battlepack ammo dries up, I don't know what I'll do....  [:)]

I got a case from Burns brothers in NY, also I think J&T has some left.  IMHO the stuff is great, I have shot great groups with this stuff in my bolt rifles and my AR's.

After reading this thread over the weekend I gave Wideners a call.  My 900 rds shipped out yesterday, and they still had some.  See the "Heads up" thread below - about 300K left.

I sure hope this isnt the end of the PMP. With all this talk of it drying up I just finished ordering another 900 rounds after placing an order earlier for the 900. I forsee prices going up everywhere. Wideners is definetly the place to buy it right now (while it lasts). Ive searched the net and and they have the best deals I can find.

I ordered some barnaul from them earlier this month. I didn't know what it was when I bought it. It was only listed by part number(SMA22362) and no description or anything to say it's steel cased/russian. 11.6 cents per round for the barnaulis too much considering the south african is just 11.67 cents and brass cased. I havent shot it yet. Not afraid to, just haven't been out.

Damn u all to hell.  You know you aren't suppost to dry up my supply of battlepacks.  Damn, ok just got 18 battlepacks.  That should hopefully hold me for awhile.  I can't afford any more. [:)]

i love the stuff.  i have never had any failures with it.  i heard from an ammo guy at the last local gun show that they were no longer importing any of it.  once its gone... its all gone!

edited to add.... because they were not gonna get anymore they were charging $40 a pack.  damn supply and demand!  i heard someone else recently say they saw someone selling them for $50-60 a pack for the same reason.

If you search back in rec.guns (newsgroups) you can see battlepacks going for 60-65 dollars EACH.  That was back in 1999.

Hmm, wonder if I should get more.

Just got 3 packs myself. I hate to think that this is the end. This stuff has worked perfectly for me.

Just ordered 900 rounds of SA 5.56 mm from Widener's.  They have now started limiting orders to 900 rounds of this ammo per person per day.  Price was $105 + 11.50 UPS Ground from Johnson City, TN to Dallas, TX.

The very nice lady I spoke with said that their supplier had just told them that Widener's would NOT be getting their next shipment of SA 5.56.

I may just have to order again tomorrow, and the day after that, and again...

Even with the shipping for each batch, that's only 12.9 cents per round.

I ordered 1800 yesterday and although it's the first time I've ever done buisness with Wideners,it won't be my last. The Lady's that I talked to were the most friendly and helpful people I've delt with in a long time. Kudos to Wideners. They will definently be getting more of my buisness

Ok, do you have to fax/send ID to Widener's for ammo purchases?  I was going to call, but thought I'd check with you guys who've dealt with them first.

Yes, Wideners needs a drivers license before you can purchase ammo.  Fax or email it if you have it scanned.

Just ordered 900 rounds from Widener's over the web, so they must still have some left.

This is the first time I'm doing business with them, and I must say that they make it easy to get an image of your license to 'em. Those with a scanner can directly upload a GIF or JPEG snaphot into their account. Hassle free, although I never had to send my license to Cheaper Than Dirt or Keisler's. Just glad that SOMEBODY still has some of this stuff left, and at a reasonable price.
