I'm going to buy another AR in a couple of months.  I've got the choices limited to one of the following.

http://ruger.com/products/sr556VT/models.html
http://www.bushmaster.com/firearms/hunting.asp - model 90636
http://www.bushmaster.com/firearms/competition.asp

the last one is, well, just weird but still.

Anyone have experience with any of these.

What is your rationale?  What is your intended use?

Just a toy.

Well if it is just a toy, why not just buy the Ruger AR-556 for $600 and slap a slide fire on it.  But if you are comparing these 3 for 3 Gun or target shooting, I would go with a Piston Gun and for the Ruger 556VT.  Out of these 2 manufacturers, I have only owned a Ruger -- SR556 and it was a great rifle, and loved the adjustable piston..  Trigger sucks but - obviously east to change.

http://www.bushmaster.com/firearms/hunting.asp - model 90636 1n9 twist blew that one for me...
http://www.bushmaster.com/firearms/competition.asp......... IMHO , overpriced for what you get...

I don't have any experience with any of those... but do know my way around AR's , also just my opinions.

The final one, the competition, I've seen for approximately half list price.  Think it is worth that?

The one AR I do have is a Ruger AR 556.  Wonderful gun.

From those options, get the Ruger.
