Probably the absence of a muzzle device. Usually the ARs I see without some sort of muzzle brake or hider cause massive balls of flame that leap downrange when using most commercial ammo. (Best seen in the dark on a night shoot...) |

I know that one that uses a gasoline additive tends to make the larger blast, but that is kind of new fangled.
Are you looking for one that is chromed, or just a matte finish? I would already have my men out looking if I knew. |

I was thinking one of those Brakes that throw the flash out the sides would give a bigger perceived flash.

They don't. Bare muzzle produces a larger flash than an AK brake. We did that test about 7 years ago. |
