I have a 12.5" barrel gun I want to put a muzzle brake on. I do not want holes on the bottom. What is the best at recoil reduction and muzzle flip . I would like to have one made of stainless steel to match my barrel. Can they be put on with a peel washer ? Has anyone tried out a bunch of them to find out ? If so please let me know. Or let me know what you think from your experience . What about other breaks ?
P.E. Kelley has his Comp Test PART 2 coming out this Nov in the USPSA/IPSC mag, word is he tested all major brakes/comps made, and a little birdie told me the SJC Titan designed by Grandmaster Erik Lund did very very well.
I have a JP Bennie C brake on my back up rifle, its good but the SJC Titan is far and away better in my opinion. Also, the AMU guys were using the TSS Rolling Thunder at this years ERC 2009 in Norway, I think if they opt for that brake its a good indicator of its performance.
I have no first hand use with the JP tank brake but on a 12.5" gun.... I just think it will be strange looking.
I installed brakes with either a peel washer or crush washer. SureFire has a timing chart and shim kit that you can use and its very helpful.
Peel washers from brownells with the discount are like 5 for 15 bucks, not exactly cheep.
