I thought going with the midlength made it so a standard bayonet would fit with a 16" barrel?

If you have a midlength, all bayonets that'll fit a 20" will fit your rifle. Or at least that's what I've been led to believe...

Pre-Bans Arms makes an extended bayo to fit 16''.  A standard bayo will fit a 20'', but not a 16'' except if you use the lug adapter.

I have the extended bayo and it works fine. Not that i ever had to use it.   I use the lug adapter on a MechTech w/flashhider.  Cost is appr $25 for the lug.  You have to get the correct diameter, standard or Hbar.....

If you want realism go w/the Pre-Ban Arms bayo, for cost go with the lug..

The location of the bayonet lug in relation to the flash hider is the same on a full size 20" barrel and a 16" with mid length handguards. I have an RRA 16" carbine upper with mid length handguards. Any standard M-16 bayonet will fit. The adaptor people speak about is needed if you have either a 16" barrel or a 14.5" barrel and the long flash hider and M-4 handguards.

Brian,

is that a 20" or a 16"?  So there are 16" bbl that have the front sight post moved further forward to accept longer handguards?

It's a 16" midlength, it uses midlength handguards that are longer than carbine handguards, and you have a longer gas system and a longer sight radius too
